deer.JPGDSC_0873.JPGAt Smewins Farm we work hard every day to encourage wildlife to the stables and the 150 acres we manage. Below you will see a photo our beautiful ancient woodland, fallen trees are cleared to encourage wild flowers, bluebells in the spring and vegitation to grow on the woodland floor, but keeping enough decaying wood for insects that feed the woodland animals and birds.

st.JPGIn the stables we recycle all the plastic bags from our haylege and all the cans and bottles from our bbqs.

After the wheat has been cut in the fields next to our farm, we spread the manure from the stables onto the fields. Therefore you incur no charge to remove the manure plus no carbon footprint, in fact we are putting it straight back to the land.

You will see on a visit to our stables and grounds everything is kept clean and tidy.

DSC_0213.JPGWhere ever we can, around the fields, we do not cut the hedges as this encourages birds and we leave the grass long where we can, you will see the success of this to the right of the polo field in the summer where there are many hundreds of butterflies.

DSC_0220.JPGDeer live in three copses around the polo grounds therefore please ensure you have control ofDSC_0215.JPG your dogs so that they are not frightened away.

Ponies are not transported everywhere twice a week to other tournaments, our clients choose to visit other clubs at the most once a month, again reducing our carbon footprint and C02 emissions
