A cocktail party at the 5 STAR Costa Galana Hotel in Mar
del Plata opens the Glen Holdens Ambassadors Cup, everyone arrives by coach
from Buenos Aires due to strike by airlines pilots |

 Due to a strike by airlines pilots all the
players and visitors made the five hour journey down by coach to Mar del
Plata from Buenos Aires on Monday afternoon. At the cocktail party, free
flowing drinks and canapes were followed by fresh pasta.
Everyone
collected their "La Martina" polo kit bag, team shirt and team jacket ready
for the matches the next day and all toasted Glen Holden for his nine year
regin as FIP President and as a tribute, this tournament will be played in
his honour. On Tuesday, lunch and a visit to a famous stud followed the first
morning matches, then supper at Galo Llorentes farm in Batan.
 On Wednesday
morning all the teams played again followed by dinner in the evening, at the
five star hotel, the Costa Galana Hotel. On Thursday the final league
matches were played and the presentation in the evening were made at a gala
dinner in the "Ocean Club", made to the three winnings teams of each league,
each person in each team received a fantastic trophy of a polo pony and
champagne. Over one hundred people attended the banquet, professional
singers and tango dancers performed after dinner. |
